Sodium Percarbonate
Sodium percarbonate, also called solid hydrogen peroxide, is made from sodium carbonate (soda crystals) and hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide). Once dissolved in water, the percarbonate will act as a bleaching agent for all your laundry: from very dirty tea towels to stubborn stains on clothes (mud, wine, perspiration,...). It is a good ecological alternative to bleach. It is just as effective but much less toxic to the environment. It will be particularly effective in removing organic stains such as coffee, blood, wine, grease or even perspiration. It is also used to deodorize sportswear.
Although it is safe for the environment, it can be irritating to the skin. Be sure to wear gloves when using it. Do not apply either on waxed or painted surfaces or on aluminum.
Tips for use:
If you're wondering how to use sodium percarbonate, here are some of its uses:
- To bleach clothes: 1 to 2 tablespoons in the drum of your washing machine, in addition to your detergent, for daily white maintenance (do not use on clothes delicate) or remove colored stains. Percarbonate becomes active between 40°C and 60°C.
- Remove carpets and rugs: Dilute 1 tablespoon of percarbonate in 2L of hot water and rub the stain with a sponge.
- To clean toilets: Mix 3 tablespoons of percarbonate in 1L of boiling water then pour it into the toilet bowl. Leave to act for 15 minutes. Scrub then flush the toilet.
- Clean bathroom joints: Dilute 1 tablespoon of percarbonate in 75cl of hot water and pour the preparation into a spray bottle. Spray your blackened bathroom joints and let it act. Scrub the joints with an old toothbrush and rinse.
- Clean the litter box: Soak the box filled with warm water with 4 tablespoons of percarbonate for 30 minutes. Scrub then rinse.
- Detach clothing : Apply a little percarbonate directly to the moistened stain. Leave to act for 30 minutes then machine wash.
Composition:
100% disodium carbonate, compound with hydrogen peroxide.
Storage Tip:
Store in a dry place. Close the bag tightly after use.
Precautions for use:
Keep out of the reach of children.
Sodium percarbonate is an oxidizer, meaning it can make a fire worse. Causes serious eye damage.
Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. NO SMOKING. Take all necessary precautions to avoid mixing with combustible materials. Wear protective gloves as well as eye and face protection.
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if the victim wears them and if they can be easily removed. Continue rinsing. Call a poison control center or doctor immediately.
In case of fire: Use water spray to extinguish. Dispose of contents, container to an approved waste disposal facility.
My contribution for the planet:
We advise you to buy the pot for the first time (if you don't have one at home) then repot it with the kraft bags.
