Soda crystals

In the category of essential for ecological cleaning, you will find soda crystals, also called soda crystals or sodium carbonate is an excellent cleaner and degreaser with multiple uses. It is irritating to the skin and eyes, but it is harmless to the environment. It should be used with caution.

Soda crystals are obtained by reaction between chalk and salt, just like baking soda. Its pH is very basic (around 11), which will give it complementary qualities to baking soda. Being more corrosive, soda crystals degrease, clean and disinfect more effectively than baking soda. Although the two products look similar, they are not identical. For example, don't try brushing your teeth with soda crystals instead of baking soda. Or, do not use soda crystals on fragile surfaces such as lacquered surfaces, untreated wood, oak or chestnut, on induction and vitroceramic hobs.

Tips for use:

If you are wondering how to use soda crystals, here are some of its uses:

  • Clean enamel: Soda crystals will be effective in cleaning your bathroom and kitchen faucets. Dilute a few spoonfuls of soda crystals in hot water and wash the surfaces covered with scale and limestone. Then, rinse with clear water and dry with a soft cloth.
  • For the dishes: If you want to restore the shine to your glasses, soak them in water with 70gr of soda crystals without forgetting to rinse them.
  • Unclog a sink: Pour half a glass of soda crystals then hot water.
  • Wash indoor and outdoor tiles: Pour a handful of soda crystals into a bucket of lukewarm water.
  • For laundry care: Pour a little soda crystals into the drum of your washing machine to remove limescale, soften the laundry, disinfect it and restore its shine (except on delicate fabrics such as silk or wool)
  • Removing wallpaper: To help you remove old wallpaper, apply a mixture of hot water and soda crystals (3 tablespoons for 1L of water). Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. This will make it easier for you.
  • Cleaning toilets: Dilute 3 tablespoons of soda crystals in 1 L of boiling water. Pour into the bowl and leave for 15 minutes. Scrub with a brush if necessary to remove traces of limescale.

Composition:

100% soda ash (sodium carbonate).

Storage Tip:

Store in a dry place. Close the bag tightly after use.

Precautions for use:

Reminder: soda crystals should not be used on lacquered, aluminum, untreated wood, oak or chestnut surfaces, on induction or glass-ceramic hobs.

Caution: Soda crystals cause severe eye irritation.

Keep out of the reach of children. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Use gloves to make your preparations.

IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if the victim wears them and if they can be easily removed. Continue rinsing and if eye irritation persists seek medical attention. Keep container or label handy.

My contribution for the planet:

Jar and lid are reused. You can bring them back or reuse them at home. We advise you to buy the pot for the first time (if you don't have one at home) then repot it with the kraft bags.
