Goji berries come from Qinghai, a Chinese province on the Tibetan plateau. These berries grow at high altitudes, they come in the form of small, elongated, slightly sweet red berries.
The name "Goji" was created in 1973 by a North American ethnobotanist named Bradley Dobos from the local Himalayan dialects. But this berry, still called the fruit of the smile or the fruit of eternal youth by the Chinese, has been used for more than 2000 years in Chinese and Tibetan medicine.
These Goji berries were harvested by hand. They go through a first stage of sorting before being dried outdoors (but protected from direct sunlight). They then go through a final sorting step and then they are packaged.
